In an interesting experiment to analyze the demography of Facebook users, blogger Paul Francis used an advertising tool to carry out such an investigation. His results?

-42,966,780 members

-36% male

-42% female

-22% undisclosed

Countries where the trend is the opposite (more males):

Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Lebanon and Pakistan (all muslim countries; keep in mind the social implications of females disclosing their gender)

Overall, membership is - not surprisingly - highest in the US (18 million), with the UK (6.8) and Canada (6.7) rounding out the top 3.

Again, these are rough stats, but the relative percentages are intriguing. Hey, with women in control, it’s no wonder Facebook is doing so well!
